Nearly 50,000 people viewed The Heart of Man in theaters last month (including a group from CHPC), and many are being utterly changed by their encounter with the Father’s overwhelming love in the midst of shame. So many people were impacted by the message of this film, and so many theaters sold out that The Heart of Man will be showing again on Tuesday, October 17th. It will be showing at Oakley Station, Deerfield Towne Center and Fairfield Commons at 7:00 PM. The film is rated PG13 so is not appropriate for young children. Notes to Pastor Drew and Cathy Smith In honoring Drew for his 10 years of service at the church we are asking people to write a note of thanks. We will present to them on Sunday, October 22 at the Congregational Lunch. Drop notes in the designated box in the atrium on October 15 and 22.

Mental Health First Aid sponsored by NAMI – Learn an action plan to help a person who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use problem. You are more likely to encounter someone in an emotional or mental crisis than someone having a heart attack. Learn how to help a friend, family member, co-worker or neighbor in need. Love In Action
CHPC Endowment Fund applications will be available during the month of October. These grants are to be used for missions or outreach to aid evangelism and compassion for groups of peoples beyond the walls of CHPC. More information and the application can be found at www.chpc.org/grants. Applications are due Oct. 31st.

October 29, Emily S. daughter of our long-time global workers John and Laura S., will share her new long-term mission to the Middle East as a nurse practitioner. She will be at both services, then speak in the Fireside Room at 10 am between services and at the World Mission Team luncheon** at 12:30pm.

Orchestra is Back
Orchestra rehearsals are beginning for this fall season. If you have played previously in the church orchestra, there is a music folder for you at the front desk. If you play a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, string bass) or woodwind or brass instrument, we have a place for you. If you have questions about playing in the orchestra, see Michael Parker, Andrea Brown, or Penny Sauer for more info.

The College Hill Presbyterian Church orchestra is a volunteer orchestra, composed of players young and old, with a wide range of orchestra experience. The orchestra is presently scheduled to play on Oct. 29 and Nov. 19. The brass are scheduled to play as an ensemble on Oct. 22 and Nov. 26.
