As Jesus prepares His disciples for His departure, they are overwhelmed. He tells them He has so much more to share but that they cannot take it in just then. Then He promises help: the Holy Spirit.
Pray: that the Holy Spirit will open God’s Word to you.
Read: John 16:12-15
How sweet it is that Jesus knows each one of us, understands and loves us completely! He promises that the Holy Spirit will guide each believer into God Himself through His Word and a personal relationship with Him. As we seek the Holy Spirit’s help, scripture will be illuminated and come alive. As we read and listen to God, His Word will begin to change us. A real conversation begins as God speaks to us personally, listens intently and draws us into fellowship with Him. As we spend time with Him, He will delight and satisfy us. Moses wrote in Psalm 90:14: “Satisfy us with your faithful love every morning. Then we can sing for joy and be glad all our days.”
- How does Jesus’ promise connect with 2 Timothy 3:14-17 and John 14:6-7, 16-17?
- In what area of your life do you need the Holy Spirit to guide you into truth?
- How does the Holy Spirit bring glory to Jesus? As you are guided into the truth, how do you bring glory to Jesus?
Gracious Heavenly Father, thank you for your generosity: for giving me You, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Open my eyes, mind, and heart to hear your voice, be filled to the brim with your loving kindness, understand and apply Your Word, respond to your transforming power, enjoy You throughout this day and bring glory to You. Amen
