Practicing Patient Endurance

On Sunday, we started our 8-week journey through Revelation so that we can hear from John how to live with Jesus to the end! John, who wrote Revelation, promises to be our partner in tribulation as we support one another in patient endurance on our journey to live according to God's Kingdom and not the ways of the world. (Rev. 1:8). If you didn't get a chance to participate in the service, you can watch the video at any time.
We were reminded that "It's all about Jesus." John gave us a great description of Jesus in verses 5 and 6, "Jesus Christ (is) the faithful witness, the first-born of the dead, and the ruler of kings on the earth. (He) loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." We face great challenges in this life to follow Jesus, but there is no one else better to follow! Reflect on how John described Jesus:
Faithful witness - Jesus gave testimony to the love of the Father all the way to his death on the cross. Jesus did not waver from God's plan. Jesus was THE faithful witness to God.
First-Born from the dead - Jesus has gone before all of us into death to prove that death is not the end. Jesus has gone through death and survived. He shows us that death is not the worst thing that can happen to us!
Ruler of the Kings of the earth - Jesus is the ultimate judge of all kings, queens, presidents, and emperors. Every authority in the history of the world ultimately reports to Jesus and will one day face His judgment.
Jesus loves us and freed us from sin in his blood - What great love God the Son shows to us by refusing to use his eternal power to save himself from death so that we can live freed from sin's guilt and freed from sin's power. Only in Jesus do we have total freedom.
Jesus made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father - Jesus has given us a mission as priests to connect freely with God and with others. We are God's kingdom in this world. We show and share the love of God to the world. What a meaningful mission!
May you live today in the patient endurance that comes only from Jesus as you seek to live according to the way's of God's in a world that doesn't know Him.
Grace and Peace,
Drew
