Society of St. Andrew Gleaning Harvest Volunteers Needed

The Society of St. Andrew brings people together to harvest and share healthy food, reduce food waste, and build caring communities by offering nourishment to hungry neighbors. Gleaning involves harvesting food that will not go to market, but is still good food. It is then distributed right away to a local hunger relief recipient. The work will happen in the farm's fields in a variety of weather. It may involve bending/stooping, some heavy lifting, and generally getting dirty. The extent of these conditions will vary each time. Once registered, volunteers will receive specific instructions about where to meet at the farm, and any other pertinent details, in a confirmation email.

End Hunger is specifically reaching out in regard to two scheduled weekly gleaning shifts they have happening in Mt. Airy on Tuesday mornings, and in College Hill on Thursday mornings - both shifts where they have been having challenges finding enough volunteers.
