Celebrating God's Commitments!

This Sunday, we will focus on our common commitments and explore God's commitment to us. This is the rock-solid basis of our faith—God makes a commitment to us! In your time with the Lord today, read Ephesians 1 and a few other passages. Consider the many different ways God has fulfilled his promises to you. Give thanks for God's faithfulness, and continue to grow in your dependence upon God's reliability.

  1. Salvation and Eternal Life:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life"  John 3:16
  2. God's Presence and Support:
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you"  Deuteronomy 31:6
  3. Covenant and Faithfulness:
"Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations"  Deuteronomy 7:9
  4. Restoration and Renewal:
"And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 36:26
  5. God's Unfailing Love:
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord"  Romans 8:38-39
  6. Forgiveness of Sins:
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"  1 John 1:9

Take 10 minutes each day:

  • Read these passages above and Ephesians 1.
  • Sit in silence, meditating on these passages.
  • Ask God to show you how he fulfills those truths in your life.
  • Reflect on the previous day. In what ways did you experience God's character?
  • Ask God to apply these truths in the day ahead.

As you experience your day, note how these passages came to mind and brought insight into your day.

Repeat this simple daily exercise using a different set of God's character traits from the list above.

Grace and Peace,

Drew
