What do you thirst for?

This week we are exploring what we hunger and thirst for. Jesus says we are blessed if we hunger and thirst for righteousness. I can be thirsty for comfort, convenience, and control. A Christian writer, Henri Nouwen, states that we can be hungry for popularity, relevance, and power. I think our lists have some overlap, but he brings up some excellent items to consider. As you reflect over this week, continue to explore what you hunger and thirst for. Take time now to read Matthew 5, the first third of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. What does this passage say about our deepest desires? Jesus tells us in this passage what we should hunger and thirst for. What is one item Jesus mentions that surprises you? What is one item in this passage that Jesus values highly that you do not hunger for? Name it, confess it, and ask God to give you Jesus' desires, because if we hunger and thirst for his righteousness, we WILL be satisfied, and that's no April Fool's joke!
Grace and Peace,
Drew
